"Radford Estate"
Since 1898

6th Generation Family Farm

Back In the late 1800's after moving from Radford England my Great Grandfather John Mills purchased land on the fertile Wairau Plains. He soon cleared the land, developed a farm, and named it "Radford". He raised sheep and cows, grew barley for feed,  and wheat for flour. He also established a Thrashing Company to mill the wheat and Barley. It operated successfully for many years supplying the local bakery and brewer trades.

The wheat and barley have long since gone, now replaced with World renowned Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.  125  years later my grandson, Thomas now helps on Radford Property..

Sometimes in life we trip over a link to our past. With Covid lock down in 2020, the opportunity arose to take over a small wholesale family bakery operating on our Radford Property.  To be competitive we looked for new opportunities in the bakery industry and I was drawn to  a revolutionary new wheat variety with extremely high levels of Dietary Fibre.

I immediately saw the heath benefits and potential and  purchased the rights. This was the start of HiFi Foods

Radford Estate 2021 is a very different venture to the Wheat and Barley farm established by John Mills in 1898 on what is now Mills and Ford Road Grovetown .

For 20 years Radford  with its ideal location in Grovetown on NZ State Highway 1 has been the site for a tourist Cafe and since 2013 a Wholesale Bakery,  Heritage Bakery. As well as the full range of Artisan Breads this is the home, now, of the HiFi range of products

The Annies business was established by Annie and Graeme Giles (John Mills Great Grandson) in 1986. 35 years later millions of these iconic fruit bars are produced on the Radford property every year for sale into Supermarkets in New Zealand and World Wide. Annies has been supplying product to Trader Joes in the USA for over 15 years
